Welcome to the South Charnwood School Sport Partnership’s website.
The South Charnwood School Sport Partnership (SCSSP) moves into its fifth year of existence and has continued to have a positive impact on delivering High Quality PE and School Sport to all young people. As Partnership Development Manager (PDM) I am extremely proud to see the opportunities that have been taken by staff and young people and we look forward to the future for even more success.
The PESSCL Strategy that we were all working towards is now the PE and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) often referred to as the ‘Five Hour Offer’. By 2011 our SCSSP will work towards achieving the ambition outlined in the Strategy, which is to offer all young people at least five hours’ of sport every week, comprising:
- At least two hours’ High Quality PE in the curriculum (5-16 year olds)
- The opportunity for at least a further three hours of sport beyond the school day delivered by a range of school, community and SCSSP providers (5-19 year olds)
A typical young person therefore will hopefully have their two hours’ High Quality PE in the curriculum, and attend at least one club per week offered by their school. The SCSSP will then work with our extended team, such as Charnwood Borough Council, County Sports Partnership, Extended Services, and Club Marked Clubs, to offer opportunities for young people to access another two hours’.
Together we have the opportunity to deliver on this new and exciting Strategy, we will only get one chance, so to all who work directly in the SCSSP and to our extended team, LETS GO FOR GOLD.
